President commits to help organisations

President Jacob Zuma and his delegates paid a visit to Eldorado Park and Kliptown on Thursday when they did a door-to-door campaign.

They went to the home of anti-drug activist Dereleen James and heard some of the challenges faced by her centre Crystal Sharing without Shame.

Speaking about recovering addicts, President Zuma said they have nowhere to go at night although they are occupied at the centre during the day.

Another issue that was raised is that the centre only has a small van for transport.

“I took the decision to encourage and support them, we will buy a car for them.

“Rest assured that we will attend to the two issues,” the President said.

He also went to the old age home and village in Extension Three.

While speaking to management at the home, he was made aware of the recent break-ins.

President Zuma assured that he will see to it that proper fencing will be done and a vehicle to transport senior citizens, from the home for hospital and clinic visits will be addressed.

“Senior citizens need to be given support and comfort,” President Zuma said.

He committed the mayor MEC Paul Mashatile to attend to the concerns of residents at the old age village.

Some of the issues raised by the elderly were rent and security.

“I commit the mayor and MEC to visit the village,” said the President.

He also announced that the Eldorado Park Taxi Association will provide transport for the residents once a week.
