Little Achievers staff and children left out in the cold

Principal wants to know where their kids and staff will be going following eviction notice.

The staff of Little Achievers crèche on corner Perth Road in Westbury at the Transformation and Development Centre is unsure where their future accommodation will be.

The crèche is has been a landmark in the area for years because of its location.

Carol Van Schalkwyk who is the principal of the crèche voiced her concerns after receiving a letter of an eviction notice from the Johannesburg Property Company last week.

At a Westbury precinct planning meeting on May 09, CEO of The Johannesburg Development Agency Thanduxolo Mendrew said a new location will be allocated to the crèche.

Now upon receiving the letter Van Schalkwyk has queried as to what will happen to them.

“We need to know what will happen to our staff and all the children at the crèche because we were promised new location but now we are not receiving any feedback from JDA.

“What will happen to the kids and how much jobs will be lost,” said Van Schalkwyk.

Lerato Legobane Regional Manager from Region B Department of Social Development said the problem will be attended to.

“We have consulted with the crèche and we will be discussing the situation with management,” said Legobane.

The letter stated that the creche and its staff be out of the building by the end of July respectively.
