Police were called to arrest armed robbers in Jabavu on June 15. The suspects were armed with a toy gun when the police captured them.
This incident followed another arrest that was made in Thokoza Park in the morning of the same day with a toy gun as well.
One of the CPF officers reported that “It is still unclear whether the robbers were from the same group or not.”
The suspects went to court on June 17 and were reminded to appear in court again on June 24.
Captain Khoza from Moroka Police Station said, “We would like to thank the community for reporting these crimes and the CPF officers for their assistance. We appeal to the people who travel to work in the early ours and return late to always move in groups since these thugs target them.”
Another resident from Jabavu reported a house robbery and opened a case; the same thugs went next door and stole a car which was found later in Dube hostel and have robbed another house in Jabavu on the same day, these cases are is still under investigation.
.A resident in Jabavu said, “We suspect that this is the same group of thugs that hijacked a cop at gunpoint.
The Police insist that people should be aware and always keep their houses locked.
