Westbury Residents ask, “When will it be fixed?”

Residents living in terrible conditions with no help from authorities.

Tenants of Westbury Flats have called on the authorities of the housing government, ward councillors and provincial department to assist with current service delivery issues.

Despite numerous complaints and phone calls, these residents have received no help with blocked sewage pipes and leaking pipes for years according to them.

There have been many public meetings to address these issues but the situation has remained the same with some of other areas affected worsening.

Mandy Adams a resident at the flat says they are tired of fixing pipes and leaks out of their own pockets.

“Workers from the various maintenance departments that government has hired have come here and rather replaced some of the pipes with cheaper and weaker pipes.

“We are living in a pig sty because the smell that sewage water is bringing across is terrible and the parking where the drain is blocked is a play area for our children,” said Adams.

Another resident who does not want to be named said they are living like pigs.

“Any person would not want to live like this and we are really pleading for help,” he said.

The situation at Sand Street in Riverlea has also not been attending to for years according to residents.

Below are some pictures of how the areas has been deteriorating over the past few months:
