Teachers protest at Shomang Primary

Teachers disrupt examination over work dissatisfactions.

Teachers were picketing last week Friday outside Shomang Primary School after disagreements on addressing formal grievances.

The on-going dispute between school staff and the governing body has resulted in an illegal strike with teachers pleading for the removal of the current School Governing Body (sgb).

Pupils were meant to be writing examinations while others prepare for examinations but all academic activities have been brought to a halt, leaving pupils to lose out on yet another session of schooling.

“This is the result of problems that have going on for far too long.

“Teachers have brought their grievances to the Department of Education and grievance processes have been undertaken but the teachers are unsatisfied.

“Their ultimately aim as staff at the school is to do away with some members of the sgb,” said Larry Masia, sgb chair at the school.
