Sector manager calls on residents to help fight crime

There are more issues than crime to be tackled.

Warrant Officer Jonathan Dim is calling on residents of sector one to be actively involved in fighting crime and social ills.

Sector one is made up of extensions 7 – 9, Mahala Park, Eldorado Proper and Kersie Dorp and is divided in to 10 blocks.

“There are 10 blocks in sector one, it is divided up this way because each area faces their own challenges.

“The community knows the challenges they face and we can overcome these by working together,” Dim said.

He said each block should form a committee that should serve as a link between the community and police.

Several meetings have been held with residents which he says is poorly attended.

“We must make an effort to take our community back and not expect the next person to do it,” said Dim.

He is also in the process of reviving the youth desk and urges youth to play their part.

The next sector crime forum meeting is scheduled to take place at the police station board room on June 9 from 6:30 pm.
