Florida Primary School pupils shine at Olympiad

Three pupils from Florida Primary School did exceptionally in a maths Olympiad against five other schools.

Three pupils from Florida Primary School who took part in a maths Olympiad against five other schools, were placed second and third in the gruelling competition.

Thando Nkosi and Lebohang Thabethe came in second place while, Liyema Mooi was placed third in their respective grades.

The three pupils were selected to compete based on their competence in class.

Nkosi said she was nervous before the Olympiad but was proud of herself for excelling.

“I like maths because it teaches one how to think, I also learn new things,” Mooi said.

Mooi will continue in the district level of the Olympiad.

Rowena Goss, a teacher from the school said it is important for pupils to see that maths can be enjoyed and it starts at primary school level.
