Moroka Police Station communications officer John Serala said the station is ready and available to punish residents who drinks alcohol and have sex inside their cars at parks in Soweto.
Serala said that their main target in Soweto is Thokoza Park which is used daily by residents for different activities.
“We have said this and we are still saying it again, no alcohol, loud music and no having sex inside cars at parks.
“we have had complains about motorists who go and hide inside their cars and have sex right in the middle of the day at Thokoza Park and other parks in the areas we are policing at.
“Now we are ready to arrest and punish them for their evil doings, they must remember that parks are for entertainment for families and their children, children cannot be exposed to such animal behaviour by careless people.
“If people want to have sex, they must go and do it in their houses or hotels and not on public spaces meant for residents
One of the volunteers who guard Thokoza Park armed with only a whistle Vusimuzi Mzimela nicknamed Friend of the Park has been supported by police.
“I just love environment and seeing people abusing it, that breaks my heart, so I decided to make sure that I guard it every day.
“What I do is to spot people who conducts illegal activities at this park like drinking alcohol, having sex fighting, littering and then I call the police officer that I work with and they are very must helpful and respond in time when I call them.”
