Informal traders meet DA’s Mashaba

Vendors hoping for a big change in their business following DA’s visit.

Yesterday, DA’s Mayoral Candidate Herman Mashaba visited informal traders in Dobsonville opposite Mezodo.

Mashaba met, spoke and shared with informal traders his party’s vision promising nothing else but business transformation.

“There are policies designed specifically to back-up small businesses because they play an essential role in improving the economy and job creation”.

“People vote us into power and have the power to remove us if we don’t keep to the promises we make today. Informal traders need space and facilities that are of reduced rental pricing to run their businesses without being harassed,” said Mashaba.

A trader named Lucy Hlabangwani has been operating her business for 21 years in Dobsonville and still struggles to make it big.

Hlabangwani sells groundnuts and snacks and then uses the money she raises to pay for her child’s varsity fees.

“Political parties make promises every year and encourage us to vote for change but nothing changes,” she said.

Party activists also handed out T-shirts and brochures detailing the Mayoral Candidate’s vision and outlines goals and things Mashaba would do if voted mayor.
