Six arrested, four injured in taxi violence

Four taxi owners have been hospitalised following the taxi violence.

Six people were arrested on Saturday and one person died after taxi violence erupted at Viking in the Golden Highway.

“We received calls that the road was blocked in Freedom Park.

“We removed the rocks from the road and monitored the area (at the fire station),” Bashier Holland from the Eldorado Park taxi association said.

Owners also stood at the Viking robots to monitor taxis entering Freedom Park when occupants in a BMW drove past and shot at the owners.

The driver of the BMW skipped the red robot when a taxi collided with it.

The BMw rolled and police immediately arrived on the scene.

Four Eldorado Park taxi owners were injured in the commotion.

Three of them were shot in their hand and one was driven over, his collar bones and arm are broken.

“Six people were arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and attempted murder,” major Mack Mngomezulu said.

He said the driver of the vehicle that rolled attempted to shoot at police but was overpowered and killed on the scene.

Police also found a Corolla who was involved in the incident was spotted where made more arrests.
