Malema talks housing in Meadowlands

EFF leader engages with Meadowlands ahead of the party's rally later this month

Commander in Chief of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party Julias Malema addressed the Meadowlands Zone 3 supporters on April 14.

The puropose was to campaign ahead of its manifesto launch rally in Orlando Stadium later this month.

He asked the crowd to speak of their grievances so the party can get a feel of what residents need.

Malema said, “We know that you are unemployed because jobs are given to connected people.”

The residents spoke of the RDP houses that have been an issue in the past couple of weeks as well as the lack of jobs among other service delivery issues.

Malema said that as a party, one of their objectives was to get rid of corruption in the RDP house allocation system.

“When I get back to Parliament, I am going to write to Minister of Human Settlements Lindiwe Sisulu that the people of Meadowlands are still waiting for their houses 22 years into democracy”, said Malema.

Malema said that when the EFF comes into power after the elections they will build family units, two-bedroom houses with a lounge and a kitchen.

“A list of RDP house beneficiaries must be published to communities so that we know who is number one,” he said.
