Man to spend 13 years behind bars for robbery

Kliptown police thank residents for their cooperation.

A 30-year-old man from Pimville has been sentenced to 13 years imprisonment for robbery.

The sentence was handed down by the Lenasia Magistrate Court on Thursday last week.

He was convicted for a crime he committed in August last year in Sinqawe Street in Pimville Zone Two.

The court heard how the convicted man robbed a 19-year-old man of his cellphone at knife point in full view of other residents.

“We would like to thank residents who assisted constable Liwane who was the investigating officer in securing this conviction and sending the perpetrator behind bars,” said constable Thuli Ngwenya from the Kliptown Police Station.
