25-year-old held for attempted car theft
Man tries to steal car at Maponya Mall.
A 25-year-old man is due to appear at the Kliptown Magistrate Court for attempted car theft. The man was arrested at Maponya Mall on Friday last week after he was spotted by a security guard trying to break in to a Nisan 1400 bakkie.
The driver of the bakkie had just parked it and went inside the mall when the incident happened. Police were called to the scene and found that the accused had a flat screwdriver and BMW car keys in his possession.
Constable Thuli Ngwenya said the man is detained at the Kliptown Police Station pending his court appearance.
