A 32-year-old man was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition at Protea North.
After receiving a tip off about a suspicious vehicle, Soweto K9 Unit spotted a vehicle on Ndaba Road and stopped it.
The driver was alone in the vehicle, the police asked to search and found firearms and ammunition hidden in the vehicle.
They found an R5 Rifle, a 38 special revolver and 15 live rounds of an R5 rifle.
The man was arrested on the spot and charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
He appeared yesterday at the Protea Magistrates’ Court on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
He was remanded in custody and will appear again in court soon.
