No real increases as birth rate stays average on Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital situated in Coronationville released their birth rate for Christmas day and New Year ’s Day.

According to Matron Nzhadzhaba the amounts have still remained average.

“There have not been any real increases or decreases instead the amounts have remained on par.

“No significant changes have occurred,” said Nzhadzhaba. The amounts are as follows:

  • Christmas Day- 28 babies were delivered
  • New Year’s Day- 19 babies were delivered

She also described the workload as normal.

“Staff availability was promising because not a lot of nurses have agreed to take leave during the December month.

“There were no real staff problems faced and we are thankful to the staff for availing themselves,” said Nzhadzhaba.

The hospital has urged young ladies more especially to utilise their nearest clinics first for bookings.

We are asking the Westbury community and surrounding areas to first attend their nearest clinics.

“If referred to the hospital then only will assistance be provided,” said Nzhadzhaba.
