Noordgesig residents protest over clinic

Rea Vaya commuters had to walk to the next station to get to their destination.

Yesterday December 8, Noordgesig residents were protesting to get a mobile clinic, they closed New Canada Road with stones and burning tyres.

All public transport including Rea Vaya T3 and C6 buses could not move and caused heavy traffic.

Traffic was diverted to alternative routes.

After hours of waiting, commuters had to walk to another station, which is at Orlando to catch alternative buses to Thokoza Park.

Metro police and SAPS came to the scene.

The protest broke off because Noordgesig Clinic is still being renovated and residents say “Orlando Clinic is too far” for them hence they want a mobile clinic and for them to be heard, they “had to protest”.
