Namedi looks to make history

'2014 is behind them and they are now looking at 2015 with optimism’-Principal.

Namedi Secondary School (NSS) principal Thami Genge says 2014 is behind them and they are now looking at 2015 with optimism.

NSS obtained the highest matric pass rate last year of 91,4%, beating all the schools in Zone 10 (Diepkloof and Orlando).

Genge said, “No school has ever retained the trophy, so we looking at making history.

“We want to better the results by improving ourselves rather than concentrating on beating other schools.

“Our aim is to get at least 95% pass rate this year, with a bag full of distinctions.”

Last year, the school obtained:

34 Bachelor degrees

30 Diplomas

21 Admission to higher certificate

100% in Vernacular languages (isiZulu, Sesotho, Sepedi and Setswana), History and English (Home Language and First Additional Language)

50% pass rate in maths

95% pass rate in maths literacy

18 distinctions

“We have done our best in preparing the pupils.

“We had extra school classes which were monitored by the department of education.

“We also had an 80% attendance, which was satisfactory.

“We appreciate the commitment that was put in by the pupils as we have had a 100% attendance in the finals thus far,” he said.

Genge said, “There are pupils who worked against all odds, so we hope they achieve better marks in the finals.

“I hope the pupils will make themselves happy and their parents proud.”
