Watch: Education MEC promises to address the #Noordgesig issue

Angry parents want the principal out of the school.

The circumcision saga at Noordgesig Primary School is just one of many issues that parents are not happy about. This emerged during a protest by parents outside the school on Tuesday morning.

They are accusing the principal of not working together with them as parents and the community. One of the parents claimed that she is a vendor at the school and the principal instructed her to pay a monthly fee which will go towards renovating the school.

Another complaint from the parents is that they are charged too much on Grade R tuition fees.  Angry parents are now gunning for the principal’s head.

They wanted her out of the school immediately. Their anger was sparked by the circumcision saga which played out late last month.

The situation got tense on Tuesday after rumours emerged that one of the boys had died as a result of that circumcision.

Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi had to leave the Gauteng eGovernment Summit and rush to the school to talk to parents.

He gave them a chance to voice their concerns and promised to look in to them. A community meeting was scheduled for Thursday afternoon where Lesufi will give a report back to parents regarding their grievances.

“The department officials will give me a report on circumcision and on other issues raised by parents. On Thursday I will hold a community meeting to report back on all those issues,” said the MEC.
