School gets a visit from the law

During the raid, Meadowlands CPF and police seized dagga from some pupils.

A high school in Meadowlands Zone Seven received a visit from the Community Policing Forum (CPF), JMPD, the police and a representative from the Department of Education on October 21.

The visit is part of the CPF’s efforts to decrease the rate of drug usage and crime in schools and communities.

“We’re tackling the challenge of drug usage and trading in schools, and possession of weapons on school grounds. During the raid, we managed to seize dagga.

“With the support of the principal, School Governing Body (SGB) and parents, we will continue to raid schools over the months, including next year when schools reopen,” said CPF representative Adelaide Sello.

Sello said through the raids, the CPF hopes to assist pupils involved with drugs as they’re more vulnerable to crime when they’re involved in drugs.

“We call on residents to join the fight against drugs and crime in the community.” she said.
