Housing indaba hopes to help residents with housing issues

Property scams to be exposed during housing indaba.

Old Mutual together with local business owners have partnered to host the 2nd Phase Housing Indaba at Chiawelo Community Centre (CCC) on October 23.

The indaba which will last from 1 pm till 3:30pm aims to assist residents with housing matters such as a illegal sale of their houses, drafting a will, obtaining a title deed and letter of authority and dealing with reputable agencies.

The indaba’s organiser Bafana Mgijimi said that it was high time people in Soweto get helped instead of them losing their property to bogus agents.

“It is our mission to make sure that we help and protect residents from bogus housing agents as this is a huge problem that residents are facing in Soweto.

“This is their platform to attend this free workshop, learn and ask questions regarding their housing issues and there will be companies such as NG Attorneys, Old Mutual, Mikovhe Electricity Projects, Musgrave funeral, Property Agents and Mgijima Housing Solutions/Consultants who will be sharing free information and help residents to lead normal lives knowing that their houses are safe and protected,” he said.

Mgijimi said there will also be activations prior to the date of the event where relevant information will also be shared to residents who are experiencing housing problems.

“We are doing an activation (promotion) of the indaba at different areas and streets and we will be doing free consultation also at malls and other busy hubs.

“We will be happy if residents join us during activation or during the indaba workshop at CCC.”

For a free consultation and more information Mgijimi can be contacted on 073 220 1018.
