For all those who’ve gone through high school know that matric is the most pressure filled and highly intense year of your life.
Between fatigue, increasing stress levels, pressure and hormones playing tricks on you, juggling all of these can be quite a mammoth task.
Having all of these on your shoulders can be very difficult and support at a time like this is imperative to enable a pupil to achieve good marks.
The South African Anxiety and Depression Group (SADAG), is a non-profit organisation that assist individuals that have mentally related conditions including, depression, trauma, bipolar and suicide amongst many others.
According to SADAG, suicide is very prevalent in young people and there are 23 suicide attempts recorded a day and 230 serious attempts.
The statistics are shocking, but suicide is preventable. In the midst of all the noise and distraction, remember to keep your eye on the prize.
No problem is permanent but death is.
If at any time you feel you are weighed down, you can’t take it anymore, or think of taking your life, take some time to talk to someone you trust or reach out to the people at SADAG.
They are waiting and are willing to assist you.
Wishing all the matriculants the very best of luck in their upcoming exams.
