Honouring the life and legacy of Nkosi

Dlamini-Zuma delivers lecture in honour of Stan Nkosi.

The African Union chair Nkosazana Dlamini – Zuma delivered the 2nd annual Stanley Nkosi Memorial lecture at the Grace Bible Church in Pimville on Thursday night last week.

Nkosi, an anti-apartheid veteran and former secretary of the Gauteng legislature was honoured for his contribution in the business sector and the uplifment of the community.

His patriotism and commitment to the development of this country and the whole African continent was celebrated.

Delivering her keynote address, Dlamini – Zuma praised Nkosi for being a true cadre of the ANC who was committed to restoring the dignity of black people.

“Stan embodied the spirit of Patrice Lumumba who believed that it is not him that counts but the freedom of the people and the country he was fighting for,” said Dlamini – Zuma.

She continued to challenge the youth and women to learn from Nkosi’s life and play an active role in the transformation of the African continent.

“Today’s generation is being asked to be patriotic to our country and continent and to transform our continent for the better. Today there are no sacrifices of death or being sent to jail, but we just have to be patriotic,” said Dlaimi – Zuma.

Nkosi was a trade unionist and anti-apartheid veteran turned business man and philanthropist.

He and his wife started the Stanley and Daphne Nkosi Foundation with an aim of promoting unity, humility and dignity amongst black people.

Once Dlamini – Zuma was done with delivering her lecture, the audience was given a chance to ask her questions.
