‘We are ready’

Holiday programme helped pupils prepare for final matric exams.

Matrics will commence with their final exams on October 26 and Fancy Modise, Life Science teacher at Namedi School in Diepkloof says the pupils are ready.

They will sit for their Life Science papers on November 16 and 19.

“We obtained a 72% overall mark in the prelims, which is a good mark.

“Pupils which were facing difficulties were taken to residential camps, while the ones who performed well in the prelims exams atteneded the Secondary School Improvement Programme (SSIP) at the school.

“According to the pupils the camp was very helpful, as now they can confidently answer questions in class.

“I can now see the readiness, through their attendance since schools reopened.

“We are hoping to get a 100% pass rate this year for the subject, ” she said.

Lebogang Mabitsi, a matric pupil said they are hoping to beat the 2014 pass rate.

“The holiday programmes have helped me and I am confident that I will get a distinction for this subject.

“Studying has become easy all thanks to the paperless classroom.

“The tablets have a lot of studying material and past papers to prepare us for the exams.

“It is easier to search for notes.

“I want to go study chemistry at Wits or University of Johannesburg,” Mabitsi said.
