Toddler falls three storeys down
16 month old child critical in hospital after heavy fall from the third floor.
A 16 month old toddler was playing on the top floor at Waterval flats in Newlands when she suddenly fell over the balcony three stories down.
A 14-year-old boy saw the girl falling down from the balcony.
“I just saw a body falling down and then it landed on the cement in front of our flat,” he said.
Neighbours say the child was left with the baby sitter at home and her parents were not home.
“We heard a very loud thump.
“When we came out we found the neighbours screaming and they then rushed her to hospital.
The mother and father were unavailable for comment as they are at the hospital.
The child was transferred from Rahima Moosa to Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital and is in a critical condition.
