Centre provides wheelchairs

Residents say they would’ve been lost if it weren’t for the kind woman.

The Annoor Islamic Educational Dawah Centre in Klipspruit with the world Memon Organisation gave over 15 wheelchairs to residents of the centre.

Latifah Hajee has been running the organisation for 20 years, a place destitute people call home.

“I’ve been living here for many years and would’ve been on the streets if it wasn’t for Latifah,” Imraan Cassim said.

Jakes Singh, a 66-year-old man said he feels at home at the centre.

“Latifah is very patient with us, she has a good heart and looks after more than 100 people at the centre,” said Singh.

While talking to guests at the handover, Hajee became overwhelmed with gratitude.

“It’s very difficult to get wheelchairs.

“I thank everybody who gave wheelchairs.” Hajee said.

Gaynor Mattera, a community leader in Eldorado Park became associated with the organisation when they would deliver food for her projects.

“This is a yard of compassion where people can have a meal.

“People sell everything to put food on their table, poverty needs to be eradicated,” Materra said.

She praised Hajee for the work she does in the community.
