Boys and Girls Club open for registration

Boys and Girls Club in Protea Glen to help children with their homework, get a healthy meal and participate in activities that interest them.

Boys and Girls Club in Protea Glen is finally open for registration.

The club which was first launched in 2011 at Pimville, expanded to Protea Glen on July 30 where it was launched by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and Basketball Without Boarders.

“Boys and Girls Club is where school aged young people come after school and do programmes in education, IT, career readiness as well as character leadership,” said Laura Parker, director of Boys and Girls Club of South Africa.

Members of Boys and Girls Club are not restricted to basketball only but do activities that are of better interest to them.

“Children come through, do their homework, get a healthy meal and participate in activities that interest them.

“There’s soccer, netball, basketball, dance and drama and that gives them an opportunity to participate in whatever activity they want and not just basketball,” said Parker.

Parents can go to Protea Glen Sport Centre in Extension 14 to register their children to join Boys and Girls Club.

Registration is open on weekdays from 9am-2pm, for more information, please visit the sport centre.
