Update: Soweto police officers killed

Eight armed men shot and killed two police officers in Dobsonville.

The two police officers killed yesterday were from the Moroka Police Station, Soweto.

According Dobsonville police spokesman Mzwakhe Xazi, the two were in the family violence and child protection unit.

After they were shot, their killers took their service pistols and the dockets they had with them in the Ford Figo that had crashed head on into a Mercedes Benz in Dobsonville Extension Two.

Occupants of the Mercedes were uninjured.

Xazi said: “Eight men shot and killed the two officers on Wednesday afternoon.

“The suspects are still at large and an investigation is underway to find them.”
