Active Ageing Games

The Eldorado Park team walked away with most of the medals.

Gauteng department of sports and recreation, social development, City of Joburg sports and recreation in Eldorado Park hosted Active Ageing Games at Eldorado Park Stadium on Friday.

This day brought together the aged from all seven regions in the City of Joburg.

The purpose of the event was to allow the aged to compete against one another and to promote healthy living.

“The competition among the participants was electrified.

“We had participants in the event from 60 to 80 years competing and the Eldorado Park team took most of the medals,” councillor Peter Rafferty said.

Following this event a ladies soccer team will represent Eldorado Park in all future activities of the City and Province.

“As the councillor in the area it was indeed an honour to be part of this initiative.

“The participants motivated us to do more for the aged in our respective communities,” Rafferty said.
