Two men arrested for ATM bombing

Police react before ATM bombers could make away with the money.

Gauteng K9 Police and Protea Glen Sector Policing members arrested two men aged 39 and 40 respectively.

The men were arrested for allegedly bombing an FNB ATM at about 2am on Thursday at Wildchestnut Street in Protea Glen Extension 11 next to Cashbuild.

The sector policing members spotted about five men who had just bombed an FNB ATM.

When the men saw the police, they fled the scene in two vehicles, a VW Golf and a Hyundai Elantra towards Roodepoort.

The police gave chase and a backup was called.

The police said that during the chase, two men climbed out of the two vehicles  and ran away on foot.

They (the police)  gave chase on foot and arrested those two on Impala Road in Doornkop next to Tshepisong.

The ATM bombers could not take money from the ATM because of the quick reaction from the police.

The two who were arrested are charged with ATM bombing and will appear in the Protea Glen Magistrates’ Court soon.
