Mathe makes Mandela Day everyday

Police officer adopts a girl child.

While the Diepkloof South African Police Service members (SAPS) were doing 67 minutes for Mandela on July 18, captain Busisiwe Mathe adopted a pupil from Madibane Comprehensive School, from a disadvantaged background.

Mathe said, “We decided to go visit a vulnerable family in Diepkloof Zone One, as part of playing our part for Mandela Day and I found that the second born child Mmabatho Mahlaba, is still a pupil and the family cannot provide for her.

“The aim of doing this is that I want to deepen the thinking of the girl child with regard to their infinite roles in society, enhance her self-esteem, inspire and motivate her to reach her full potential and through exposure to diverse careers and positive role models assist her to prepare for the world of work.

“I then adopted the Grade Nine pupil to be her mentor and make sure that she always has school uniform and goes to school everyday.

“I want to concerntrate on her studies and not worry about the situation at home,” said Mathe.

She added that she will be doing this for the next three years.
