Relief for motorists

South Africans breathed a sign of relief this morning when the fuel price reduction took effect, thanks to the recent decline in international oil prices.

Consumers will fork out between 73.82 cents and 75.82 cents less for a litre of diesel and 51 cents less for a litre of petrol as of today.

There is also a significant decline in the price of liquefied petroleum gas and illuminating paraffin, which decreased by 89 cents, 93 cents and 70 cents respectively per litre.

The department said the decrease in fuel prices were due to the weakening Rand against the US dollar as well as the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin decreased during the period under review.

Motorists have taken to social media to welcome the drop in the fuel price, which will bring financial relief to consumers, especially low-income households.
