Property left damaged following protest in Dobsonville

Police urge residents to protest peacefully.

Dobsonville police communications officer Mzwakhe Xazi has confirmed that on Tuesday and Wednesday there was a protest by residents in Dobsonville.

Residents were apparently protesting against the lack of supply in electric – they go for days without electricity and that they always experience power cuts.

Constable Xazi said when they were informed of the incident, Public Order Police were immediately deployed.

People barricaded the road with rocks and stones.

“On Tuesday, a public violence case was opened at the station – police are carrying out an investigation on this complaint.

Xazi said: “We warn locals not to meet privately to discuss things that are criminally related, because any action which is a transgression in policing terms, will result in people paying a hefty price.”
