Megatong Primary in a state of disrepair

Megatong Primary without basic infrastructure.

After receiving a string of complaints from parents about the bad condition and dilapidated building at Megatong Primary School, in Mapetla, DA Member of Parliament Khume Ramulifho took over the matter and exposed the conditions at the school.

The opposition party discovered that the school only has one working toilet, no electricity and no running water and most of the windows in the classrooms have been damaged.

Ramulifho said: “This school is one of the schools without basic proper school infrastructure, and we can’t turn a blind eye.

“We want the Gauteng Education Department to be held accountable for this and own up to their mistakes, they can’t be aiming and claiming to be investing on the future of our children while they expose them to coldness, hunger and ignore their education needs.”

Ramulifho said that DA will continue to conduct inspections at schools in Soweto.

“We will make sure that all the schools in the townships are prioritised.”

The school is without power as the main switch has been vandalised.
