JMPD standardise safety

The JMPD confiscated goods from street vendors selling fruits and vegetables on the pavements as part of the City's efforts to standardise safety.

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) confiscated goods from street vendors selling fruits and vegetables on the pavements outside Ndofaya Mall in Zone Three on July 8.

JMPD spokesperson superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the operation was part of the City of Joburg‘s efforts to promote safety for pedestrians and the community.

“Goods are confiscated when traders disobey the by-laws of trade such as trading next to ATMs, government buildings and on narrow pavements designed for pedestrians. This sustainable operation is to standardise safety.” said Minnaar.

Street vendors can recover their confiscated goods at the JMPD Dube branch on Ncube Drive at a fee between R1270 and R2510.
