Investigations are underway but the understanding is that taxi drivers retaliated against the taxi owner, Naledi Police Station CFP chair Peter Rataemane said.
“The man who got shot the night before was allegedly the driver of this taxi owner known as Cebekhulu.
“Apparently the taxi driver brought money that was short by R100 and the taxi owner decided to shoot the taxi driver.
“The following morning, taxi drivers who work for Cebekhulu came together and decided to burn his house in Emndeni, threatening that they would burn all his houses, including the one in Zola.
“Police have maintained visibility in Zola to make sure no violence breaks out.
“It is currently not clear what condition the wounded driver is in,” said Rataemane.
