Residents angered by lack of service delivery

In the latest series of blocked drains and leaking pipes in Westbury and the surrounding areas, another drain burst open at Newclare Flats.

The amount of water that it releases onto the whole area is overwhelming and some people living on the ground floor cannot get out of their flats due to the amount that accumulates in front of their doorsteps.

Natalie Van Rayne, a resident, has received a reference number two days ago but nothing has happened.

“I have phoned Joburg Water twice and they have issued me with a reference number.

“I then phoned again but no response and it is frustrating living in these conditions,” said Van Rayne.

Joburg Water was contacted and assured the residents that the problem will be solved as soon as possible.
