Johannesburg mayor visits Kofifi Fm

Johannesburg Mayor to launch new youth job creation programme in the West Rand.

The Executive Mayor of Johannesburg councillor Mpho Parks Tau was on Kofifi Fm on June 24 at 7pm on The Daily Wrap up show.

His aim was to tell the listeners about new programmes that will be taking place in our areas.

These programmes focus mainly on the youth and their development and how the city will help in establishing success for young aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners.

A business summit that will be taking place at Silverstar Casino in September will focus on youth empowerment, area corridor development and small business development.

Other projects that will also take place during the course of the mayor’s programme in the West Rand area are aqua farming, revisiting mines and solar energy investments.

Part of the development and workshops that will be taking place during this period are the already established programmes. These include the Jozi@Work initiative that is the co- production model of service delivery.

This programme has brought about a fair amount of job opportunities in the area.

“I urge the residents of Westbury to register your CV’s with the local municipal offices. “The reason for this is because any work or tenders that are awarded in Westbury need to be given to the people living in Westbury.

“The City provides maintenance work, plumbing, road construction and various other work so people of the area should get these opportunities or their businesses should reap the rewards,” said Tau.

The City has also developed a joint programme with Discovery Life which focuses on promoting healthy living lifestyles in schools.

The residents was given the opportunity to ask questions, interviewed by James Seetelo social media facilitator and co- presenter of the Daily Wrap up show.

The mayor was then given the platform to answer these questions on air.

“In order for success to be efficient, one must be compliant in all areas. “ You have to position yourself and make sure that all your business systems are in order. “This shows readiness and the ability to succeed,” said Tau.
