Police identify N12 Highway as a crime hotspot

Drivers are urged to be extra vigilant when using the highway.

Kliptown police have issued a warning to road users to be extra vigilant when using the N12 highway.

They have identified the highway as crime hotspot.

This follows an incident of attempted murder which took place on Monday night.

According to police reports a man was driving a Rand Water white truck next to Avalon Cemetery when he was suddenly stopped by a white bakkie.

He refused to stop because it was late at night and did not trust the vehicle stopping him.

Seeing that he was not stopping, occupants of the bakkie started firing at him.

The victim managed to get away unharmed and the truck he was driving has three bullet holes on the right hand side.

He could not get the registration of the bakkie.

No arrests have been made and police are still investigating.

Anyone with information which can lead to the arrest is urged to contact Kliptown police.
