The youth of Gauteng is gathered at Nasrec Expo Centre for their parliamentary day.
They are debating about the issues that affect them as the youth and the first debate which was the “Role in promoting and preserving Heritage” has been adopted.
The changes in heritage and how the youth of today have drifted away from their cultures was the focal point.
Nozipho Mhlongo, participant in the youth parliament said that the youth has lost its culture and their roots while focusing on pop-culture.
Zizi Miya, blamed the media for the disrespect people have for South African cultures with the content they portray.
“Amaphephandaba acekela phansi amasiko ethu ngezinto isizibukayo bese baveze okubaluleke kakhulu ngama holidi, njengayo nje I Youth Day,” said Miya.
The parliament is still in session and has now proceeded to the debate on economic opportunities.
