Yesterday morning (June 11) King and Queen Black Clothing held auditions for young people who want to join the fashion industry as models.

The auditions were held at Choc’s in Pimville Zone Three.

King and Queen is an up coming fashion brand by three Pimville youth.

Young girls and boys  from all over Soweto and as far as Ennerdale came to showcase their talent.

The aim of the auditions was to select 20 people who will model and act as faces of the brand.

On the judging panel was other young people who are in the fashion industry.

Carol Nkosi, a freelance fashion designer from Diepkloof and Mpho Hlongwane, one of the founders of King and Queen Black Clothing were the judges.

Nkosi said, “We were looking for a person who has the walk, the right height and most importantly confidence.”

The event was meant to be part of the Youth Month commemoration.

Hlongwane said, “We are trying to change the mindset and how young people celebrate this month.

“We believe that we can celebrate in a constructive manner rather than going on a drinking spree.”

Auditions were not only open to ramp models but plus size was welcome as well.
