Ward committees trained to boost service delivery in communities

Ward 44 and 49 committee members undergo training on leadership.

Umkhiwa and Amadube, a training institute, held and facilitated a workshop for ward committee members in Bramfischer at the community hall.

The accredited training concentrated on leadership skills and individual empowerment.

The committees are expected by council to work equally and efficiently, according to Lungelo Hlabisa from the institute.

Hlabisa said training the participants would enhance service delivery and easy management of the ward.

“We also want ward members to be involved in the decision making and to ease the workload on ward councillors.

“We are used to seeing ward committees reporting to ward councillors who report to the City council. This training aspires to equip all participants with the tools to be accountable in their work,” he said.

Assistant Dineo Maphopha said all trainees would receive NQL 4 qualifications from LGSeta.

Maphopha said each participant has a Portfolio of Evidence (POE) which will be assessed, moderated and checked for competency statuses.

A similar training also took place in Dobsonville, Kopanong Hall, Doornkop Hall, Diepkloof and other areas countrywide.
