Community celebrates National Environmental Week

DA pleads with the community to stop dumping.

The Democratic Alliance of ward 46, celebrated the National Environmental Week last week by taking care of the environment and educating others of the importance of the environment.

The National Environmental Week is celebrated to pay cognisance of the environment we live in and to make people aware of the risks they may put the environment in.

This is the week when South Africans need to come together and take care of the environment as a nation and to make sure that they preserve it for the next generation.

The DA was cleaning the open space behind Eskom in Zola One last Saturday as part of their campaign against littering and dumping, and in honour of National Environmental Week.

“Even though we collected 30 bags of garbage, this was not a one day thing.

“In the weeks to follow we are planning on compiling a petition where we plead with the community to stop dumping and to task Pikitup to help us make that place is clean because we couldn’t manage to clean it all in one day,” said Nonhlanhla Sifumba, Democratic Alliance Proportional representative councillor of ward 46.
