Violence began, as angry residents who were apparently protesting against the installation of prepaid electricity meters by Eskom in Dube, looted a bottle store and a KFC outlet, yesterday.
Gauteng traffic police spokesperson Obed Sibasa said, “The residents who are allegedly from the Dube Hostel, also tried to break open two ATMs next the KFC, but the police arrived before this could happen.”
“No arrests were made and nobody was injured during the looting,” said Lungelo Dlamini Gauteng police spokesperson.
