A 68-year-old man died at his home at Protea Glen Extension Three after his house caught fire.
The man with a minor stroke on his left leg side failed to escape the fire when this blanket caught fire from the heater.
Neighbours say that they were woken up by a woman screaming at around 6am today alerting them that a house was on fired.
Thabiso Malgas, one of the people who came to the scene said that by the time they got there, Daniel Kgasone had already burnt to death.
” We had to pull hose pipes from my house to stop the fire. We then broke the kitchen door and the living room window to enter, but he had already died,” said Malgas.
Rebecca Kgasone, the deceased sister, said that she is very heartbroken by the way his brother died because he had just come out of hospital.
” I don’t stay here and when I was called this morning to hear about the news, I was very heartbroken because he had survived from hospital and now this.
” It would have been better if he died due to his sickness not burning to death,” said Rebecca.
