Community urged to donate blood
Bheki Mlangeni Hospital targets 1000 people to donate blood.
The public is invited to come donate blood at Bheki Mlangeni Hospital on June 19.
The National Blood Bank is constantly in need of blood and this time around they will be sourcing blood from the second biggest hospital in Soweto.
“Ever since the hospital has opened, there have been operations and other procedures performed using blood from the blood bank.
“We have noticed that there are very few residents in our area who donate blood regularly and the point of this blood donation drive is to get people in the habit of being constant blood donors.
“We are targeting 1000 donors for the first leg of the drive and blood collected will contribute towards the National Blood Bank supply which later serves patients in local public facilities,” said communications spokesperson at the hospital, Jerry Mosasane.
Residents who weigh more than 55 kg who belong to any blood type are invited to donate on June 19 from 10am till 2:30pm at the parking lot of the hospital.
The drive will continue two more times on August 28 and November 23.
