‘Operation paint Lofentse’

Pupils and parents brighten up Lofenste Girls High classrooms.

Lofentse Girls High Schools pupils, parents and residents joined in and painted the school’s classrooms on Saturday in what was called ‘Operation paint Lofentse’.

The paint was donated by the South Africa-Australia Alumni  Association.

This is an association which sponsors scholarships to South African pupils giving them an opportunity to study in Australia.

After graduating, the pupils return to South Africa and give back in whatever way they can.

“We have adopted Lofente Girls High, we want to mentor the pupils and expose them to a world that they may otherwise not be exposed to,” said Nompumelelo Radebe graduate from the South Africa-Australia Alumni
Association.

The classrooms were painted in bright colours and the pupils also painted the palisade fencing surrounding the school.

“Adam McCarthy, an Australian High Commissioner, who was also part of ‘Operation paint Lofentse’, said that the main reason they felt it was important to paint the school was to motivate the pupils.

“We want the pupils to feel motivated when they come to school, having bright classrooms will give the pupils a positive outlook,” he said.

Parents also joined in making Lofentse Girls High School bright.

“I felt it was important to come and assist in making the school bright. I want our children to learn in a bright and conducive environment,” said Pinky Radebe.
