52.6 billion for COJ’s development

MMC for Finance Geoffrey Makhubo announced an annual budget of R52.6 billion for the 2015/16 financial year, made up of R42.7-billion operating expenditure and R9.9-billion for capital expenditure.

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Finance, Geoffrey Makhubo announced the budget for the City of Joburg’s 2015/16 financial year on Tuesday at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Makhubo said the City is committed to lead the transformation of spaces residents live, work and play in.

He said the City’s Growth and Development Strategy, Joburg 2040 sets out four outputs which are translated to 10 priority programmes aimed at tackling the challenges faced by Joburgers.

The key priorities which aim to ensure that the City achieves a sustainable, resilient and liveable society are:

The cluster includes Housing, Environment and Infrastructure Services.
