The incident happened on March 21.
The house belongs to Joan Mazibuko, a mother of three children.
Mazibuko, who is a Sangoma, has since been living in a shack with her children.
She said: “The insurance company of which the vehicle belongs to came to assess the situation but that was it – nothing happened thereafter.
“The RDP was the only shelter we had but I’m thankful that finally reconstruction has begun and it’s because of the residents’ efforts.”
Members of the African National Congress (ANC) and the ward councillor Mandla Mlangeni also participated.
Mlangeni said: “All residents who voluntarily participated in the construction should be thanked.
“I am sincerely delighted of this progression, and urge residents to be kind to their fellow citizens as it is to this Mazibuko family.”
