Girl talk that motivates

Miss Soweto hosts a mentorship session for young girls.

Reigning Miss Soweto, Lungile Buhale, launched a mentorship programme for young girls from Soweto.

The programme was launched with a session titled Pretty Contagious at the Soweto Hotel in Kliptown on Saturday.

Girls from different schools in Soweto got a chance to be mentored by Miss Soweto and other beauty queens.

Motivational talks and discussions around issues affecting young girls were the order of the day.

Miss South Africa 2015 finalist, Tsakane Mangwane, spoke about a purpose driven life.

She motivated the young girls to always lead a purpose driven life.

“Everyone has a purpose in life, so go out there and make sure that you fulfill yours,” said Mangwane to 40 high school girls who were in attendance.

Miss Sundowns, Boitumelo Moti, gave the girls guidelines to leading a successful life.

She encouraged them to do everyday what gets them closer to their dreams and to believe in themselves.

The day long event gave girls a chance to share advice and talk about different issues affecting them at home and school.

At some point the mood became sour in the room as some girls touched on personal issues leaving some of the girls not able to hold back their tears.

Buhale said she organised the event as part of her community work and helping where she can.

“I organised this mentorship programme because I felt that I had not done anything for my people in Soweto lately,” said the Dube born Buhale.

She said she has something for young boys coming up in the near future as well.

“I did not want to mix boys and girls together because boys have different issues from girls,” she said.

The event was organised in a way that it was a meeting point for fun and learning.
