A rehabilitation centre has been opened at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital which will cater for 20 men from Soweto, Eldorado Park, and surrounding areas.
The 24 hour centre is equipped with nurses, doctors and social workers to ensure that the journey to recovery is covered wholly.
Come Back Mission, an organisation that has been involved with the fight of substance abuse for the past nine years, is the service provider of the rehab centre through the department.
Despite the availability of drugs, Chery Pillay from Come Back Mission believes great strides has been made in the recovery.
“I know this centre is going to have a great impact on rehabilitation for the reason it’s accessible and it has an effective treatment programme,” says Pillay.
A daily schedule is drawn up where patients will partake in therapeutic sessions, group and one-on-one sessions.
A menu is also implemented by a dietitian.
